As an extension for your child’s learning experience, we ask each family to take turns providing the snack for your child’s class (Your teacher will provide a monthly schedule). Please have the following items prepared and ready to serve on your child’s snack day:
** 1/2 gallon milk or bottled water ** disposable cups
** servings of food (ready to serve and eat) ** napkins
We do wish to emphasize that all snacks be nutritious. Some suggestions are: fresh fruits, cheese and crackers, yogurt, sandwiches, vegetable slices, or coordinate the snack with a class topic.
Your child’s learning experience will include water play and outside play, so to ensure their comfort in school you need to provide an extra pair of clothing (including socks and underwear) for your child that will be kept in their backpacks.
Our preschool needs help in several ways: Prayer support, Office Assistant substitute (in an emergency), Project/Art assistant, Sharing about your career, General help (bulletin boards, inventory), Assist the Parent Representative on the WOL Board, and In-School volunteer. If you are interested in any of these, please stop by the office and request a Parent Volunteer form. We appreciate our parent volunteers and we’re able to accomplish great things when we have family support!
Each month our teachers will provide a class newsletter and/or calendar for each family. These will also be available on the website. The newsletters/calendars explain what will be happening in class and what your child may need to provide for a class project (i.e.: apples for making applesauce). Following the monthly newsletter and calendar will be very helpful for planning your child’s week. Please let us know if you have any questions.
Scholastic book club offers our families great prices on books as well as pairing with our school; for every book you purchase they will give our teachers points that they can use towards receiving free books for the classrooms!
There is a parent handbook available on the Parent Information board or by request in the office.
Please clothe your child appropriately for the weather. Be sure that your child wears tennis shoes, or rubber-sole shoes which are safer for walking down the stairs or playing on the playground. (Belts and buckles are difficult for young children to manage when they have to use the bathroom. Elastic waist or pull-on pants make it much easier for your child to avoid “potty accidents”).
Yes, this is information that we must keep updated in case of emergency.
Each teacher will dismiss one student at a time after she has made eye contact with the parent/pick-up person. If she is unfamiliar with the person picking up, she will ensure that they’ve already checked in at the office.

Each student receives a cubby with his/her name on it. All work from the classroom, teacher, or office will be placed in the cubby to be taken home.
Yes, your student will be assigned a day of the week that will be his/her day for show and tell. For the Pre-K classes your child should bring an item that starts with the letter of the week (find the letter of the week on the monthly calendar).
The 3rd Wednesday of each month is Chapel day. During Chapel one of our teachers or a CNC staff member will teach the students about a Fruit of the Spirit (kindness, gentleness, love…) The students will also learn how their offerings help support the two children WOL sponsors through World Vision.
Yes, each teacher gives homework at the beginning of the week. Your child should complete this homework and return it in a timely manner. Homework is a way to reinforce at home what your child is learning in class, please take the time to work with and encourage your child to complete the assignments.
We have Parent/Teacher conferences every Fall and Spring. If you would like an update on your child’s progress aside from these times, please feel free to contact the teacher/office. We would be happy to schedule an additional conference. Our teachers also provide their personal phone numbers on their monthly newsletters or are happy to give a quick update right after class lets out.
